THURSDAY 13 FEBRUARY, 21H30
This Greek tragedy, by Euripides, explores delirium, the irrational, hysteria, madness, ranging from illusion to blindness, and from blindness to revelation. We witness ferocity and the desire for peace, savagery and the aspiration to a simple and peaceful life.
Opposite and contradictory directions, elements that clash in extreme ambiguity, bodies that break apart, social statuses that are put to the test, faith and beliefs that are tested to the limit ... This is the moral and aesthetic world which Marlene Monteiro Freitas now invites us to explore. Music, dance, and mystery lead us, like tightrope walkers, over the rope of intensity, in a battle of appearances and dissimulations, polarised between the worlds of Apollo and Dionysus.
