“Gran Bolero”, by the Spanish choreographer, Jesús Rubio Gamo, offers us a new dimension to Ravel's famous composition, in which six dancers from Madrid and six dancers from Barcelona jointly revisit Maurice Ravel’s 1928 score as if it were an orchestral transcription of a traditional Spanish dance. “Gran Bolero” is a dramatic and extraordinarily visceral spectacle that expands musically and kinetically in the bodies of the twelve tireless dancers. A work about effort and the pleasure of resistance. It is a stubborn choreography about the thin line between pleasure and exhaustion. A dance to celebrate the time and space that we share together.
